a case study in the information Systems Division of the Municipality of Abrantes

This article analyses the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in the Information Systems Division of the Abrantes Municipality, with a focus on document modernization and administrative processes optimization. The research, based on a descriptive and exploratory case study, used semi-structured interviews and employee surveys. The analysis combined qualitative and quantitative methods, making it possible to identify patterns and perceptions about the benefits and challenges of AI. The results show operational improvements, reduced errors and better allocation of resources, driven by the ACALI algorithm and aligned with the Abrantes 2030 Strategic Plan. The benefits include regulatory compliance, analytical capacity and model replicability. However, challenges remain, such as resistance to change and the need for ongoing training. The research highlights the transformative role of AI in public administration, reinforcing its contribution to more efficient services and more informed decisions. The Abrantes experience serves as a reference for other municipalities undergoing technological modernization.
