Estudo dos valores modais no discurso jornalístico do início do século XIX
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to present the study of linguistic modality and the meditative in the periodics Gazeta de Lisboa (1808-1820) and Correio Braziliense (1808-1822). By studying the linguistic modalization strategies of that journalistic discourse, the investigation revealed that the news were constructed by linguistic inference mechanisms and sources were derived, mainly, from other European journals, letters of personal relationships, gossip, rumors and “hearsay”.
