Marcas deíticas da presença do locutor no discurso científico: dissertações de mestrado apresentados na Universidade do Minho
Abstract
We aim at analysing the deictic marks of the author’s presence in his speech, in master dissertations that have discourse as object of research. The master dissertation as a genre of scientific and academic discourse has a hybrid character, combining features of scientific discourse and academic discourse. In a complex communicative framework, stands the fact that it is a discourse genre submitted to evaluation, comprising a master’s thesis defence before a jury of experts. Within a theoretical perspective of discourse analysis and enunciation, we intend to analyse the personal deictic categories as marks of the authors’ inscription in their own discourse. In particular, we intend to analyse the author’s choice of first person personal / possessive pronouns, present or explicitly lexicalized on verbal morphology; the occurrences of personal deixis in a macro and local context; and finally, the co-occurrence of those pronouns with other marks of subjectivity, namely, verbs of opinion. In addition to the inventory of occurrences, of more quantitative nature, we aim at relating the deictic categories and the overall issue of subjectivity in discourse.
