  • Call for Papers – REDIS 2026 Issues (n.º 18 and n.º 19)

    REDIS: Revista de Estudos do Discurso (Journal of Discourse Studies) announces how its 2026 issues—namely issue no. 18 (July 2026) and issue no. 19 (December 2026)—will be organized.

    Issue no. 18 (July 2026) will be a non-thematic issue. Submitted manuscripts must fall within REDIS’s scope of publication, namely Linguistic Studies of Discourse.
    The call for papers closes on February 28, 2026.
    Expected publication: July 2026.

     

    Issue no. 19 (December 2026) will be a thematic issue and will receive manuscripts addressing the theme “Science Communication: the New Place of Communicating Science in Public Spaces” (see the call for papers). This thematic issue will be coordinated by Professor Urbano Cavalcante Filho (IFBA/UESC, Brazil), as guest editor, together with the REDIS editorial board.
    The call for papers closes on June 1, 2026.
    Expected publication: December 2026.

    Science Communication: the new place of communicating science in public spaces

     

    In recent decades, science communication has gained prominence and has been called upon to take part in reflections on the importance of science in society and on the relationship between the two in the construction of knowledge, as well as on the need to communicate science to non-specialist audiences. Beyond its informative and communicative function, public communication of science plays an essential role in the social legitimation of science, expanding its meanings and domains beyond institutional and academic contexts.

    Considering the role that new technologies and forms of communication have assumed in social life, especially with the expansion of digital media, public communication of science has contributed to redefining the ways in which science and society relate to each other. In these spaces, new communication strategies, formats, and multimodal genres emerge, producing tensions between the boundaries of specialized and common knowledge, between the disseminator and the audience, and between new and traditional ways of publicly communicating science.

    In a journal dedicated to discourse studies, this issue aims to gather works that discuss public communication of science as a situated discursive practice, one that occupies — and dialogues with — distinct spheres of social life, such as politics, education, art and journalism, across the various spaces in which it develops, whether digital or not.

    The thematic issue will welcome articles addressing this phenomenon in its multiple linguistic and discursive materialities, from different theoretical perspectives: discourse analysis (in its various strands), text linguistics, argumentation studies, pragmatics, rhetoric, and language studies at the interface with communication and digital culture.

    Our aim is to foster debate on the public communication of science and on the new forms of participation and social engagement that emerge in the context of citizen science, in which researchers and publics share the construction and circulation of scientific knowledge.

  • Issues for 2025

    REDIS: Revista de Estudos do Discurso announces how the issues for 2025, namely No. 16 (Jul/2025) and No. 17 (Dec/2025), will be organized.

    Issue No. 16 (Jul/2025) will be a non-thematic issue. Submitted manuscripts must align with the journal's area of publication, namely Discourse Studies. Submission period closed at May 5th, 2025. The editorial process for this issue had to be extended. We project that issue No. 16 will be published between September and October.

    Issue No. 17 (Dec/2025) will be a thematic issue, with manuscript submissions restricted to participants of the Discussion Group "Entre Textos: Diálogos Transatlânticos em Linguística do Texto e do Discurso," organized by the Linguistics Research Centre of NOVA University Lisbon (CLUNL). This thematic issue will Dr. Ana Sofia Souto (CLUNL/FCT) as guest editor. The call for papers has been extended until September 7, 2025.

    Caros/as,     A REDIS: Revista de Estudos do Discurso (Universidade do Porto, Portugal) ​publicou, em dezembro de 2024, o novo número ​da revista.

    ​O ​número 15 (2024) reúne um conjunto de dez artigos, interligados pela análise de discursos em diferentes contextos, com o objetivo de compreender como se constroem sentidos e como os discursos influenciam as perceções sociais, históricas, políticas ou culturais.​    ​Em conjunto, os estudos salientam como os discursos, sejam biográficos, educacionais, pedagógicos, científicos, literários ou políticos, podem servir para contestar verdades estabelecidas, ampliar fronteiras da compreensão e influenciar a memória coletiva ou individual.    Esperamos que a sua leitura seja inspiradora​!

    A REDIS: Revista de Estudos do Discurso convida os investigadores a submeter trabalhos originais dentro da área científica da revista, redigidos em português, inglês, francês ou espanhol. Trata-se de uma publicação semestral, classificada no nível A4 do sistema Qualis/CAPES (2017-2020), que reúne trabalhos no domínio dos Estudos Linguísticos do Discurso. Albergando propostas de diferentes linhas de investigação coexistentes na área, a revista privilegia trabalhos de orientação linguística.

    A REDIS recebe textos até 01 de agosto para a edição de dezembro (n. 15).

    Previsão de publicação: artigos aprovados até 15 de outubro integram a edição a ser publicada em dezembro/2024.

    Os artigos deverão ser submetidos on-line, em ficheiros .doc ou .docx, seguindo as instruções para autores.

  • Dossiê Temático: Encontro JADIS IX & CIED IV (2023)

    A presente chamada para publicação destina-se aos participantes no Encontro JADIS IX - CIED IV, que teve lugar nos dias 12, 13 e 14 de outubro de 2022, na Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto, sob o mote: “Passado, Presente e Futuro: discutindo a relevância dos Estudos do discurso”.

    Prazo para submissão dos originais prorrogado: 15 de julho.

    Previsão de publicação: dezembro de 2023.

    A REDIS convida os investigadores a submeter trabalhos originais dentro da área científica da revista, redigidos em português, inglês, francês ou espanhol. Os artigos deverão ser submetidos on-line, em ficheiros .doc ou .pdf, seguindo as instruções para autores. Os trabalhos serão avaliados por membros da Comissão Científica e/ou por especialistas de reconhecido prestígio, cabendo-lhes a decisão sobre a sua publicação ou a necessidade de eventuais alterações. O prazo de submissão é 04 de maio de 2023. A previsão de data da publicação é julho de 2023.
