LIBRARY SCIENCE AGAINST EPISTEMICIDE
a look at the emancipatory movements of the Palestine people

In times of war, cultural institutions take on new social functions. From this perspective, this article reflects on the role of libraries and librarians in confronting epistemicide, through bibliographic research and the analysis of recent historical events. The article seeks to understand how Library Science and Information Science discuss the role of libraries and librarians in preserving collective memory and combating historical erasure, understood here as one of the instruments of genocide, with a focus on preserving the memories of the Palestinian people, especially after the offensive launched by Israel in October 2023. Additionally, we present some practical actions aimed at mobilizing civil society and the professional community in defence of Palestine and against the violence of the ongoing conflict in the region.
