REPRESENTATION AND RETRIEVAL OF COMICS THROUGH LINKED OPEN DATA

The growing complexity of information collections and the vast amount of data available on the Web demand new strategies for organizing and retrieving information. In this context, Linked Open Data (LOD) emerges as a promising technology, especially for non-conventional materials such as comic books. This research examines how international authors have addressed the application of LOD to this type of material, focusing on its representation and linkage in digital environments. Qualitative in nature, with an exploratory and bibliographic character, the study was based on a systematic mapping of the literature. Publications indexed in SCOPUS and the CAPES Journals Portal, between 2003 and 2023, were analyzed using the descriptors “Comics AND Linked Data” and “Linked Data AND Comic Books.” Five relevant studies were identified, proposing models for aggregation, authority control, and thematic description. The main challenges involve metadata standardization and the creation of specialized datasets for the effective application of LOD in comic book libraries and manga collections.
