PROPOSAL FOR AN INDEXING POLICY FOR THE LIBRARY OF THE STATE INSTITUTE OF THE ENVIRONMENT

This paper aims to propose an indexing policy for the specialized environmental library of the Instituto Estadual do Ambiente (INEA). Exploratory, descriptive and bibliographic research and a case study were used to conduct this study. The bibliographic research presents basic concepts for the development of an indexing policy. The points that most needed changes in the library were identified, in addition to the methods for creating an indexing policy, to finally develop the proposal. Based on the results, the need for standardization and better quality in the library's indexing was identified, which resulted in the development of an indexing policy proposal.
