THE REMODELING OF THE LOCAL FUND IN THE PUBLIC LIBRARY
implementation of IFLA-Unesco guidelines and the 2030 agenda for the preservation of cultural heritage

In contemporary globalization, the preservation of cultural identity has become urgent, urging libraries to go beyond their traditional role. This article explores the remodeling of local funds in public libraries as a strategy to preserve cultural heritage and promote heritage education. The research is based on a mixed approach that includes questionnaires, a literature review, and a case study at the Fernando Piteira Santos Municipal Library, located in Amadora. It proposes a remodeling in line with the IFLA-UNESCO guidelines and the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, reinforcing the role of libraries in cultural sustainability. The use of the ‘IFLA/UNESCO Multicultural Library Manifesto Implementation Kit’ demonstrates the practical potential of digitization, thematic reorganization, and community inclusion. The results highlight the importance of adapting local funds to community needs and international guidelines, transforming them into dynamic and accessible resources that promote intercultural dialogue and the strengthening of collective memory.
