Abstract

Graphic Medicine emerges as a promising therapeutic approach in bibliotherapy, leveraging the unique characteristics of comic books to promote the emotional health and well-being of patients. The general objective of this study was to discuss the potential of graphic medicine in bibliotherapeutic procedures, with a view to contributing to the promotion of health and well-being. The research methodology employed has a qualitative approach, theoretical in nature, based on bibliographic research that relates bibliotherapeutic elements to the potentials of graphic medicine. As a result, it was found that graphic medicine contributes to the bibliotherapeutic processes of identification, introjection, projection, catharsis, and introspection, serving both as a source of information about diseases and treatments and as a means of externalizing the experiences and lives of readers and patients undergoing some type of healing process. It is concluded that graphic medicine proves to be a valuable instrument that deserves to be further explored and highlighted in bibliotherapy practices, especially in clinical and institutional settings.
