A oração no Horto : um auto quinhentista e suas recuperações

Abstract

This paper explores three interrelated dimensions: taking the «Auto da Paixão» (play about the Passion of Christ) by Francisco Vaz de Guimarães as a reference, some proposals are put forward on versions made over the centuries, both literary and cinematic, some of its possible antecedents are analysed and, in more detail, the «prayer in the garden» is studied in light of the canonical gospels and the apocryphal gospels, as well as Spanish texts and more modern texts of a popular nature.
