NERDCORE IS NOT JUST FOR NERDS.
A SOCIOLOGICAL REFLECTION ON CONTEMPORARY NERDCORE MUSIC
Abstract
It is possible to trace some of the themes explored around geek culture and its vastness, when it comes to the dimension of musical scenes within this domain, there is a void that deserves to be filled. Nerdcore, is a relatively recent cultural movement that has had extensions to a specific music scene. What we tried to do in this work, in the first place, was to establish theoretical foundations for interested researchers, since the bibliography on the subject still leaves much to be desired, and on the other hand, to understand how this new musical current is characterized in the virtual domain. To serve as a complement, we had access to an interview that was carried out with one of the pioneers of the Fabvl scene by a youtuber named Munfu Proffitt, whose analysis served as an empirical corpus for this study.
