REPRESENTATION OF INFORMATION IN MANGAS
a proposal for guidelines

Considering the growing prominence of manga as informational resources in information units, this research aims to propose guidelines for information representation in manga, with the goal of enhancing the effectiveness of representation and retrieval of these resources in the collections of information units. Methodologically, this study adopts a qualitative, exploratory, and documentary approach, based on bibliographic research procedures. The results provide guidelines for the analysis of manga, which encompass image description elements intended to represent aspects related to the content, form, and context of manga. The proposed model is exemplified through its application to two widely recognized manga in popular culture. It is concluded that there is a need to further research in the field of Information Science regarding the representation of informational resources that combine two or more languages, as is the case with manga, where verbal and visual languages coexist intricately. However, the presented model proves to be effective in representing fundamental aspects for information retrieval, thereby contributing to improving the documentary treatment of these resources in information units.
