Abstract

This article arises from the need to remember the past to prevent it from recurring in the future.
More than a contribution to the teaching of history, it arises in cooperation with the construction of a society
aware of its history, of its collective memory, based on the values of April. Focused on the Portuguese reality,
specifically in the district of Porto, this case study involved the participation of 46 students who, during the
academic year 2020/2021, attended the 12th grade of secondary education. After analyzing the data, the
historical empathy of Portuguese students is noted – aware that they are part of collective memory.
