Abstract

This article brings together memories and reflections of a Brazilian sociologist in Guinea-Bissau in January 1976 in the context of the formation of the joint national state with Cape Verde. The objective was to respond to the request of the government of that country to develop an emergency teacher training project for secondary education. The article contains an account of experiences lived on site, the proposed project and the vicissitudes of the political process that separated the Republic of Guinea-Bissau from the Republic of Cape Verde, including in the educational field.
