And the Year is Zero: As Histórias Perdidas de GB84, de David Peace
Keywords:
narratology, social novel, philosophy of HistoryAbstract
In his novel GB84, David Peace approaches the contentious subject of the 1984/85 UK Miners’ Strike. It is told through the contrast between the stories of the miners and those of the leaders in both conflicting parts. That contrast reveals a substantial difference in the uses of culture, as well as in the underlying philosophy of history. It is through those differences that the place of literature in the contemporary public sphere is considered.Downloads
