LIBRETOS
Libreto (from the Italian) means literrally “booklet” or “small book”, although from the seventeenth century on the word has also been used to designate the text of operas, cantatas or oratorios. By starting a new series of studies in digital format under the name Libretos, the Institute for Comparative Literature (ILC) intends to adopt the two meanings of the word, adapting them to the Institute’s research goals and outreach activities. The Libretos series will publish relatively small-sized volumes resulting from scientific meetings and/or cultural events, dedicated to a theme or an author that may directly relate to our core research lines. These studies will work both as proposals for interpretation and as proposals to be interpreted, and they will also address forms of interartistic and interdiscursive dialogue whenever possible, a strategy that has become now more feasible or enchanced by digital edition.
