Abstract
This article aims to understand the representations of international communism in Jornal da Beira, a catholic newspaper from the Diocese of Viseu, during the portuguese revolutionary process. Using a methodology that favours discourse analysis, the aim is to demonstrate how the catholic hierarchy built his enemies. The representations of the USSR and of the German Democratic Republic are interpreted, as well the strategies mobilized to characterize these regimes. On the other hand, it analyses the way in which press deals with the international influences on the Revolution, particularly the condemnation of the aid of the communist countries.
