Science and Faith. Charles Taylor’s Approach to Make It Compatible

Resumo

From the earliest days of the relationship between Christianity and philosophies, the debate between knowledge and faith has become a subject of discussion. Augustine and many others after him followed the path of conciliation. This is a very heated issue in the current debate between science and religion, and Charles Taylor’s approach to this problem offers elements that contribute to a good reflection on the subject. Here I present Taylor's claim that reason is the articulation of incipient perceptions or experiences that intrigue human agents, making them restless. From Taylor's perspective, I try to deconstruct the mechanistic perspective that pits science against religion by showing some evident claims in the Bible that came before science.
