Unha recontextualización da minaría do ouro galaico-romana
Abstract
This article reviews the foundations and the state of the art of the geoarchaeological research
into the Gallaecian-Roman gold mining, often referred to as ‘NW Roman mining’. Based on
the evidence of the extraordinary success of this ancient mining, not achieved in the two
centuries of modern techno-industrial mining, a reevaluation is made on the meaning and
consequences of this success within its geomining, geographic and historical context, as
well as on the artifacts introduced by the geoarchaeological methodologies and the literary
references commonly used until now.
